Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has blamed the state’s ongoing bloodshed on its geographic weakness, casting fingers at infiltrators from neighboring regions and across international borders.
On Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, the governor stated that the state’s proximity to Cameroon, Nasarawa, and Taraba has made it a vulnerable target for marauding attacks.
“We share borders with Cameroon, Taraba, and Nasarawa,” he stated, adding that individuals who routinely assault the state enter across the frontiers.

The Governor of Benue State went on to say, “They weren’t necessarily Nigerians speaking Hausa or Fulani.
“When to reach Nasarawa’s axis. We have numerous obstacles here. There have been a number of events in Nasarawa State, and there have been channels by which these individuals have arrived whenever they are relocated from Benue. We wouldn’t say no to what we see now if it was described as a retaliation.
Alia stated that he spoke with his Nasarawa colleague, Abdullahi Sule, and that he had information that “terrorists were entering his state via Benue.”
“When I told him that the havoc had already been caused at Yelewata in Benue, then he said probably, they came and made a touchdown in Yelewata in Benue and were going back because he said one person was macheted in Nasarawa State.”
