Benue Massacre: Adebayo Rebukes Tinubu’s Visit

Prince Adewole Adebayo, Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and 2023 presidential candidate, has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent trip to Benue State following the Fulani militant massacre. Adebayo argued that the relief visit was reduced to political posturing, with too much emphasis on the 2027 election and President Tinubu’s personal “sacrifice” rather than on the tragic loss of lives and failures in citizen security.

In a statement on his official X handle, Adebayo said:

“Our entire governmental doctrine and leadership mentality in Nigeria needs a thorough revamp, and our people desperately need mental liberation. How could the emphasis be on the 2027 election and little on the sadistic massacre?”

Describing the town hall meeting as “sickening,” he called out the administration for focusing on the President’s prompt response instead of addressing the constitutional duty to protect citizens:

“No observer would believe that the people of this great state have just suffered a dastardly and gruesome massacre merely a few days ago.”
