Men of the the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG) have paraded three suspects apprehended for allegedly stealing diesel from the yard of Triacta Construction Company in the New GRA in Makurdi.
The Commander of BSCVG, Captain Ayuma Ajovbi (Rtd), said the suspects were arrested on Sunday night at the site of a road construction near Governor Hyacinth Alia’s residence after operatives of the volunteer guards discovered the trio had siphoned diesel from the heavy-duty trucks into jerry cans and attempted to transport them into a waiting vehicle.
He assured that upon conclusion of investigations into the matter, the suspects would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
On his part, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Triacta in Benue, Benjamin Atsaga, said it was not the first time the company experienced such theft, explaining that the first of its kind happened in October, last year in connivance with a staff who was later dismissed.
He further said, “Today I am surprised to discover that the same person who was arrested for a similar crime is one of the suspects known as Mohammed Adamu. He is a black marketer.”
Speaking to journalists, the suspect, Adamu, said some staff of the company called them to come and buy diesel on account that they had diesel to sell as they needed money to buy food and eat.
