Breaking: Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price to N820 Per Litre

The ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as gasoline, has been lowered from ₦850 to ₦820 per liter by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
Anthony Chiejina, the chief branding and communications officer for the Dangote Group, reportedly announced the price change in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the release, “Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction of ₦30 from ₦850 to ₦820 per litre, ex-depot (gantry) price of Premium Motor Spirit, commonly referred to as petrol, effective from 12th August 2025.”
The refinery assured the public of a consistent supply of petroleum products while reaffirming its dedication to Nigeria’s economic growth.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery guarantees the public a steady and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products as part of our unwavering commitment to national development,” the statement read.

The company announced intentions to deploy 4,000 vehicles powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) for gasoline delivery around the country as part of its sustainability initiative.

“With effect from August 15, 2025, we will begin the phased deployment of 4,000 CNG-powered trucks for fuel distribution throughout Nigeria,” the statement continued.

It was understood that Dangote raised the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit to ₦850 per liter four days before to the price drop.

Nigerians would be hoping that gas prices at filling stations reflect the new price.
