Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers, has urged Rivers residents and Nigerians to applaud President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prompt imposition of emergency rule in order to save the state from impending chaos brought on by the brewing political crisis.
Fubara added that all state offices and executive and parliamentary institutions have already been restored as part of the peace and reconciliation process.
The state would soon resume democracy and good government, with both branches cooperating for the benefit of the populace, Fubara promised.
Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara’s chief press secretary, said in a statement that the governor spoke during a meeting with Simplified Movement leaders and stakeholders in Port Harcourt on Thursday to commemorate his two years in office.
“The issues will be resolved soon, and you will return to your offices—not just at the Executive arm, but also the Legislative arm,” he stated. Additionally, I think that our great working ties will resume, and we will start collaborating once more for the benefit and advancement of the State. It is crucial that we develop an attitude of forgiveness.
Fubara asked his followers and the people of Rivers as a whole to express their sincere gratitude to Mr. President for his audacious move to end the State’s deteriorating political situation.
He requested their complete submission to the peace process so that the state could proceed.
He declared: “The peace process is already underway. I want you to express your gratitude to the President for his prompt action in saving the day and bringing stability to the State and the political system. Everything would have been different today if it weren’t for Mr. President.

The fact is that he made a wise decision at the appropriate moment, however I’m not sure how he obtains his information. It’s him you should give thanks to. Let me also express my gratitude to him directly for his assistance as well as to the national celebrities who moved in and urged him to do so.
The peace process requires us to get off our high horses and submit to it. We’re doing just that. Moving forward is what matters for the State. It is not about you; the State’s interest comes first.
He pointed out that the celebrations for the second year would have served as a platform to highlight some of the significant achievements made by the government in a number of state areas, but for the political circumstances brought on by the crisis.
Fubara promised that the government would resurrect with greater strength, unity, and preparedness to provide the people with high-quality democratic dividends.
He clarified that people were free to voice their resentment and complaints, but he also swiftly added that everyone should embrace peace, seek forgiveness, and strive reconciliation for the sake of the state’s growth and advancement.
Reiterating that his actions were motivated by a desire to preserve the peace and advance the State, Fubara begged for forgiveness from anyone who might have been let down by his handling of the situation.
He sent gratitude to the President for his fatherly efforts to bring peace, stability, and good governance back to the state and promised amicable relations with Chief Nyesom Wike, the former governor and minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as soon as possible.
He revealed that there had been multiple attempts at reconciliation since the President’s intervention, some of which had taken place at the home of the FCT minister.
He spoke to the Federal Capital Territory’s Minister and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike, when he stated: “There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga.” We’re getting together. We shall make amends.
Fubara pledged to uphold the same level of respect for the State’s citizens, who gave him the mandate, and expressed gratitude to them for their sacrifices and opportunity to serve.
Respect is one thing that matters in this life. Instead of trying to impose my respect on others, I want to earn it. I really agree with you,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers and to all Nigerians who supported him amid the political unrest, recognizing their prayers and devotion.
