BREAKING: Nigerian Soldier Allegedly Kills Phone Repairer in Adamawa Over Girlfriend’s Faulty Device
A tragic incident in Mayo-Belwa, Adamawa State, has sparked public outrage following the alleged killing of a young phone repair technician by a Nigerian soldier over a delayed phone repair.
According to eyewitnesses, the soldier, identified as Lance Corporal Ahmada A., allegedly assaulted and killed the technician, Alkasum Ibrahim, after his girlfriend complained that her phone had not been fixed on time. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the soldier’s girlfriend had earlier taken her faulty phone to Alkasum’s shop for repairs. However, due to reasons believed to be technical or related to workload, the repair was delayed. Upset by the delay, she reportedly contacted her boyfriend.
In a shocking turn of events, Lance Corporal Ahmada allegedly stormed the repair shop and launched a violent attack on the technician. Witnesses say he beat Alkasum mercilessly in full view of bystanders. The victim lost consciousness and later died from his injuries.
“This is heartbreaking,” said an eyewitness, Nuruddeen Abubakar. “The boy was just trying to make a living. His only offense was not fixing a phone on time.”
The soldier is said to have fled the scene and remains at large. The incident has triggered condemnation from local residents and human rights groups, who are demanding justice and accountability.
“This is more than brutality — it is murder,” a local rights organisation said in a statement. “The Nigerian military must take immediate steps to hand over the suspect for prosecution.”
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated that the military is conducting an internal investigation and is expected to transfer the case to the police for further action.
The family of the deceased, supported by rights activists, is calling for urgent justice, insisting that the matter must not be swept under the rug.
