In an attempt to reposition the party ahead of upcoming issues, former Senate President Bukola Saraki and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee are currently meeting behind closed doors with Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu State.
In a social media post, Saraki verified the news and stated that he, Governor Mbah, and important PDP Strategy Committee members are having important conversations about the party’s future.

“I’m in Enugu State right now with His Excellency Governor Peter Mbah and Senators Ibrahim Dankwambo and Seriake Dickson, who are both on the PDP Strategy and Way Forward Committee,” Saraki said.
He went on to stress the significance of the talks by saying, “As we work to reposition our party for the future it deserves, we’re here to have the necessary conversations—frank, focused, and long overdue.”
The gathering follows allegations made by Dave Umahi that Mbah and all other South-East governors were supporting President Bola Tinubu and would shortly support his 2027 reelection campaign.
Along with former Governors Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo, Saraki’s visit to Enugu demonstrates the PDP’s resolve to hold onto power in the vital South-East area. As the 2027 elections approach, the PDP is dealing with both internal and external pressures.
