There is no gainsay stating the various reforms initiated and fulfilled by Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai because his achievements in the past three years has paved way for the success stories witnessed across the various military formations across the country. Elements of these achievements can be accessed and accepted as true because the old time theatre of war is now a safe haven for all.
The untiring zeal of General Buratai and his team players has created an enabling peaceful environment ably achieved by premium devotions accorded to civil military relations with cases of human rights abuses trashed to the lowest ebb. In the past years and now, Nigerians and international observers have applauded the passionate timely interventions and relentless measures revamped and innovated by the COAS.
Recently, in his routine bid to boost the morale of troops, General Buratai sent his warm regards via a goodwill message to his officers and men especially the front line troops deployed at various military operations and formation across the country.
In the goodwill message, addressed to the gallant troops in the North East, General Buratai used the opportunity to remind and encourage them while reiterating  the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide the resources and enabling environment in the discharge of their duties, elucidated in the President’s remarks during the recently launched Armed Forces and Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal Fund 2019.
The COAS applauded the sacrifice of the troops including those who have paid the supreme price, hinting that the recent sporadic skirmishes displayed by Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) should be seen as a desperate effort from a highly degraded and expiring adversary striving to maintain its notoriety and portray itself as formidable and cohesive; something that is completely false.
He described the latest attempts by the terrorists as the “last kicks of a dying horse” maintaining that the Nigerian Army has recorded great successes over the BHTs. According to the COAS, absolute and conclusive victory is just inches away. He charged the troops not to relent in the fight against the remnants of insurgents.
General Buratai also reiterated his commitments towards the welfare of the troops and charged them never to display any act of cowardice in their line of duty.
In furtherance of the COAS productive engagements and calculative inputs, few days after the goodwill message, the now celebrated “goodwill posting” was recorded in the circle of the Nigerian Army affecting top military brass of repute who prior to this time has contributed their quota without any blemish or disorder.
It is also worthy of note that General Tukur Buratai has greatly improved the welfare of troops. This administrative incentive has greatly enhanced the fight against the once dreaded Boko Haram terrorists with ongoing success stories recorded on daily basis. Today, the insurgents are fleeing from their hitherto now stronghold because of the superior might of our troops.
Many pundits has commended the recent development anchored by the timings of the COAS. A cross section of officers affected in the redeployment exercise accepted their new task by reaffirming to play their roles without reservations.
No doubts, the redeployment has re-branded the strength and vision of the Nigerian Army to a brand new phase of a “Good Army, Goodwill Message and Good posting”. Now that the euphoria is high, we must not forget to salute General Buratai for his encouragement, sincere commitments and improved designs effected in style by drafting a new and improved architecture for the Nigerian Army.
Furthermore, the recent establishment of the Nigerian Army cyber warfare command has greatly reduced the undue menace and activities of the “5th columnists” who are always on standby to display flagrant of online propaganda in support of the terrorists. Activities of the recently launched Exercise Python Dance III has dissipated the trend of herdsmen attack and the issues of armed banditry. The Nigerian Election security monitoring room recently launched by the Nigerian Army under the able watch and guide of the indefatigable trailblazer, General Tukur Buratai is also worthy of accolades.
No doubts the 2019 elections through this great innovation of security will improve the security architecture of the country especially at critical times like this. During the launching of the security monitoring room, the Gen Buratai said the Nigerian Army through the Cyber Warfare Command has been continually engaged in monitoring, identifying and countering various forms of fake news and propaganda being put out by terrorists and subversive elements. However, in this period of elections, there is need to collaborate with all stakeholders to confront the menace of fake news.
Conclusively, General Tukur Buratai’s resolve to enforce a professionally responsive Nigerian Army is second to none. Over the years, his ethical dictates to officers and men of the Nigerian Army has paved way for a robust civil military relations with personnel of the service under his watch becoming pragmatic in their approach to duties with little or no supervision because are truly professionals in all ratings.
Gen Buratai’s overwhelming posture towards the betterment of troops welfare is second to none and his sincere passion to propel the Nigerian Army to greater heights is a paradigm of future utility. However, it is prudent as officers or soldiers to work dutifully else attract the wrath of the best COAS in the history of Nigeria, who is absolutely everywhere; in the theatre and in the trenches.
Gen Buratai before outcome of the 2019 General Election, Gen Buratai has cautioned his men not to hobnob with any politician including retired military personnel who are now politicians. This warning is not just timely but one of the best reforms of the military in this century. General Buratai is no doubt a living legend who is ever ready to contribute his best quota for peace and security to prevail in Nigeria. As a result of his sincere contributions to humanity, he has succeeded in building a niche for himself by boosting the reputation of Nigeria and Nigerians in the international scene. Today, the Nigerian Army University located in Biu, Borno state and the National Army War College all built within his three years in office are few innovation traced to his tact, intelligence and style. For General Buratai, leaders should lead by example and his frequent visits to the front line is a lucid observation that he is undoubtedly equal to the task.
As a resolute pathfinder for peace, the success story of troops under his command has decimated the once dreaded Boko Haram sect. Today, Gen Tukur Buratai has succeeded in writing his name on gold as he continue to conquer beyond borders in words and action.
