For his recent comments about the Bola Tinubu government, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for 2023, has come under fire from presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala.
According to Bwala, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Obi should not speak on issues pertaining to June 12, 1993, since he feels the former governor of Anambra State was never involved in the fight for democracy.
In his view, Obi had no prior involvement in the conflict because he was trading overseas at the time.

Obi urged Tinubu to emulate past presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Yar’Adua during the Democracies Day ceremony.

Obi that the President follow in the footsteps of former President Yar’Adua by admitting that the methods he used to gain power were not perfect.
The president should follow Jonathan’s example, he added, who maintained Nigeria’s democracy by accepting loss.

According to Peter Obi and his followers, the 2023 presidential election was tainted by anomalies, and the results shouldn’t have been accepted.

Additionally, Obi declared that the administration of Bola Tinubu does not practice democracy.

Bwala said in a post via 𝕏 on Friday night that the former governor should not speak on matters pertaining to Nigeria’s democratic struggle.

“I would appreciate it if someone could verify to me that on June 12, 1993, and for weeks thereafter, @PeterObi Peter Gregory Obi was in Malaysia or another Asian country engaged in buying and selling trading,” Bwala wrote.

“I looked up any information about his involvement in the fight for democracy online, but I couldn’t find a connection, ohh.”
