Comptroller Oshoba, New Apapa Customs Boss, Sets Record with ₦20.1bn Daily Revenue Collection

Apapa Customs Sets Historic N20.1bn Daily Revenue Record Under New CAC Oshoba

Barely 24 hours after assuming office as the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba has demonstrated his resolve to sustain and surpass the achievements of his predecessor with a landmark revenue breakthrough. On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the command, under his leadership, raked in an unprecedented ₦20,156,077,098.56, setting a new daily revenue record for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The announcement was made by Superintendent of Customs (SC) John Tunde Ayagbalo, Public Relations Officer of Apapa Area Command, in a statement released to journalists. According to him, the feat was achieved through the Unified Customs Management System, popularly referred to as B’Odogwu. This record not only surpassed the previous peak collection of ₦18 billion but also confirmed the new CAC’s determination to drive excellence in revenue generation and trade facilitation.

Comptroller Oshoba, who assumed leadership of the command on Monday, wasted no time in engaging with senior officers. In his maiden meeting, he applauded their past efforts but stressed the need for greater commitment, discipline, and productivity. He reminded them that outstanding results remain the true reflection of diligence and integrity, emphasizing that the new benchmark was only the beginning of greater accomplishments ahead.

Speaking on the development, Oshoba noted that the ₦20.1 billion collection is not a time for applause but for renewed dedication. “It’s not yet time to celebrate because clapping means removing your two hands from work. What we have achieved is the beginning of bigger exploits. Greater milestones lie ahead in terms of revenue collection, anti-smuggling operations, and facilitation of legitimate trade,” he said.

The new Apapa CAC highlighted the critical role of B’Odogwu in modernizing customs operations, describing it as a vital tool in positioning Nigeria for enhanced global competitiveness. According to him, the platform will ensure a more transparent, efficient, and accountable system capable of boosting investor confidence and reinforcing Nigeria’s role as Africa’s largest economy.

Oshoba also used the opportunity to commend his officers and stakeholders for their collaboration in achieving the milestone. He urged importers, exporters, and clearing agents to remain compliant with customs regulations, assuring them of swift processing of legitimate trade while vowing to maintain zero tolerance for smuggling, concealment, or under-declaration.

“Our collective effort is now resonating positively in the Nigerian economy. I urge my officers to sustain this momentum, and I call on stakeholders to remain steadfast on the path of compliance. Together, we will continue to build a record of excellence that future generations of officers and Nigerians will be proud of,” Oshoba stated.

The historic feat at the Apapa Command has been widely described as a strong signal of renewed commitment under Comptroller Oshoba’s leadership. His swift start suggests that the flagship command of the NCS is poised for greater achievements, as the CAC sets his sights on not just meeting, but surpassing the revenue targets for 2025.
