Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has praised Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), for launching the Non-Resident Nigerian Ordinary Account (NRNOA) and the Non-Resident Nigerian Investment Account (NRNIA).
The move is a strategic attempt to boost Nigeria’s economic growth and improve diaspora involvement, according to a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of the Commission for Media, Public Relations, and Protocols.
As the largest source of foreign money to Nigeria, surpassing oil income, the NiDCOM Boss emphasized the importance of diaspora remittances and urged Nigerians living abroad to take advantage of these new financial packages.
With the words, “Nigerians, home and abroad, must join hands to develop Nigeria, as no foreigner will do this for us,” Dabiri-Erewa emphasized the significance of strategic engagement with the diaspora population.
