Daura agog as Buhari visits to lay foundation of University of Transportation

Daura, Katsina State, the home town of President Muhammadu Buhari, went agog on Monday to receive Buhari who is in town to lay University of Transportation foundation.

The Daura Emirate woke in the early hours of Monday to heavy presence of security operatives who flooded the town ahead of the visit of the President.

Buhari, a son of the soil is expected in town to perform the foundation laying of the University of Transportation.

The university, the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa is being built by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).

CCECC according to the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi is seeding $50 million to ensure the smooth takeoff of the school.

The Chinese will also run the school for five years after which it would be transferred to Nigeria.

It was the second landmark project to be sited in Nigeria by the Chinese constriction giant, the first being the wagon assembly plant the ground break g of which was performed by the Vice President.
