Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillip Shaibu, has apologized to motorcycle riders in the state over claims that All Progressive Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole  reportedly referred to them as thugs.

Mr Shaibu tendered the apology to the group on behalf of the APC national chairman when he received a delegation of the motorcyclists in the state house in Benin.

In his words, ” I want to correct the view by our national Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole that the Okada Riders are thugs , you’re not thugs and I want to apologised on his behalf that it was a slip of tongue.”

Earlier, it was reported that, the number two citizen in Edo State reacted over the allegation by the APC National Chairman that he brought thugs to attack Governor Obaseki and his entourage.

Shaibu, though, claimed that the thugs that attacked the Oba of Lagos and other dignitaries were sponsored by Oshiomhole.

The spokeman to the deputy Governor, Musa Ebomhiana, in a disclaimer stated that Shaibu could not have sponsored an attack on his principal officer in the state.

Reports making the rounds in the state has it that other political gladiators including the national Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, us not ready to endorse the reelection of Governor Obaseki in the build up to the governorship election in Edo.

Idahosa, a former aide to Oshiomhole described the APC National Chairman as a personality unfit for the position of a party leader.

The Oshiomhole political camp, however, are of the opinion that the crisis rocking the APC in the state are deliberate handwork of the governor and nobody else.
