The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained and arrested Samha Inuwa, a well-known actress in the Kannywood film industry in Northern Nigeria, on suspicion of misusing the Naira.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Inuwa was arrested by agents of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate.
The actress was arrested after a social media video went viral showing her wiping mucous from her nose with Naira notes.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the video led the Commission to move quickly.
Oyewale claims that when the video went viral, EFCC agents followed the actress and detained her for interrogation in relation to the suspected currency mutilation.
He revealed that while the investigation is ongoing, Inuwa is being held at the Commission’s facilities.
After the investigation was over, Oyewale said, the actress would face charges in court.
