EFCC Nabs 28 Suspected Ponzi Scheme Operators in Minna

In Minna, Niger State, officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 28 people suspected of operating a Ponzi scam under the pretense of network marketing.
According to the EFCC, the arrests came after solid intelligence linked the suspects to fraudulent investment schemes involving a business called Q-Net Ltd, which is purportedly headquartered in a three-bedroom apartment in Minna’s Al-Bishiri Estate.
Nofisat Opeyemi, Shukurat Muritala, Odunayo Sanni, Mayowa Oyekola, Aishat Olaitan, Edward Hannah, Abioye Fathiah, Joseph Omowunmi, Kareem Ahmed, Arikeusola Afeez, Adiamo Mutholib, Abass Ibrahim, Wasiu Taofeek, Adeniji Damilare, Nurudeen Akinola, and Mubarak Yekeen are among those who have reportedly been placed under arrest.

Adedeji Ayobami, Alani Samuel, Ogundele Yunus, Adekunle Ibrahim, Adewale Azeez, Rufai Faruk, Fawaz Yekeen, Olade Abdullahi, Ahmed Murtala, Adisa Habeebllahi Akorede, Adigun Timilehin, and Abdulfatai Ridwannullah are also on the list of suspects.

The victims were convinced to pay between $790 and $850, or ₦1,462,000 (one million, four hundred, and sixty-two thousand), in registration fees and product sales after being mislead into thinking the company had worldwide ties in Dubai, India, Indonesia, and Thailand. Some of them who were jailed were discovered pretending to be “network marketing” members while attending seminars on Ponzi scheme operations.

Q-Net application forms and other documentation were among the items taken from the accused. After the investigations are over, they are anticipated to be charged in court.
