A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope ambassador, Jadda Garko, has declared support for Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani’s stance on accountability while faulting former governor Nasir El-Rufai for allegedly resisting the same.
Garko, who spoke to journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday, said no leader should evade scrutiny after leaving office, stressing that public accountability was a duty and not an act of betrayal.
“Any former governor or president, no matter the office he held, if he is called to give account and he takes offence, then he is unjust,” Garko said.
He maintained, “And anyone who supports him on that basis is also unjust.”

The politician noted that the recent summons by the Kaduna State House of Assembly was not instigated by Governor Sani but was within the constitutional mandate of the legislature.
“This call did not come from Governor Uba Sani. It came from the Assembly, whose members belong to different political parties. Do you think lawmakers would unite to satisfy one man’s interest? No.
“The issue here is the wealth of Kaduna people,” he argued.
According to him, Governor Sani himself has no fear of facing scrutiny when he leaves office.
“Even Uba Sani is waiting for his turn. Should he stop the Assembly from doing its job? No. If he does, he will carry the burden before God,” he insisted.
On speculation about El-Rufai’s possible arrest, Garko dismissed such fears, pointing out that, “If El-Rufai thinks he will be arrested today, that will not happen. But when the time comes, and the law restricts foreign travel for six months to elections, he will have to remain in Nigeria and face his record. This country belongs to everyone,” Garko reminded.
The APC stalwart further accused El-Rufai of hypocrisy, recalling past statements on banditry and security.
“He once boasted that his private security network was bigger than the police and admitted that ransoms and supplies were being given to bandits. All these things will come back to him. He must one day answer for them,” Garko said.
He also faulted the former governor for turning against his successor despite the sitting governor’s loyalty.
“It is laughable that El-Rufai now challenges Uba Sani. Till today, Uba Sani has never withdrawn his praises for him. He has never said anything contrary,” he noted.
Reacting to El-Rufai’s remark that Sani was only a “boy” and not a friend, Garko disagreed, describing the governor as a long-standing ally.
“When someone digs with you in the same trench, enters your household, and counsels you in your affairs, that goes beyond calling him a boy. That is the role of a friend,” he argued.
Garko concluded by expressing confidence that both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sani would secure re-election in 2027.
“The APC has no fear. We are ready for Tinubu’s second term and Uba Sani’s second term. Nothing will stop it,” he declared.
