Nigerians on social media have called out controversial preacher, Chukwuemeka Odumeje alias Ódumeje’ and actress Rita Edochie following the death of Instagram comedian Mmesoma Mercy Obi, popularly known as Ada Jesus.

Ada died on Wednesday of kidney complications two days after celebrating her birthday.

The 22-year-old had in a February 2021 revealed that she had been battling with a kidney problem for almost a year.

She said her body and face began swelling in December and was advised to go for a kidney transplant in India.

Things took a bitter turn recently when a video of controversial Odumeje and Edochie cursing the comedian appeared online.

Ada had previously accused Rita of conniving with Odumeje to perform fake miracles.

Months after that accusation, the comedian fell ill and was taken to Odumeje’s church to seek forgiveness.

The prophet, however, vowed not to forgive her until she provides evidence to back her claims of fake miracles.

He accused the comedienne of ruining his image with false accusations on social media.

Instead of forgiveness, he rained curses on Ada, boasting that anybody who speaks against him will suffer terrible consequences.

Rita Edochie is also heard in the video cursing Ada and vowing not to forgive the comedian.

“You will go from here. You will die from this so others can learn,” she said in Igbo.

The backlash that followed the release of the video forced Odumeje and Rita to say at different times that they had forgiven the comedian.

Her death has, however, led to more public condemnation of the cleric and actress who have been accused of playing god.
