Enugu State has witnessed another savage incident, as unidentified gunmen suspected of being armed robbers launched a murderous assault on a police roadblock, killing two officers.
The event occurred on Thursday evening at Agbogugu, a town located on the Enugu-Ozalla-Port Harcourt Old Road in the Awgu Local Government Area. The terrorists burned a patrol van and a Sienna car used by police at the checkpoint.
According to local sources who spoke with SaharaReporters on Friday, the armed guys launched the attack quickly, disarming the officers and setting the vehicles on fire before fleeing the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers encountered little to no opposition and easily fled Agbogugu town.
A police checkpoint in Agbogugu, along the Enugu-Ozalla-Port Harcourt Old Road, was ambushed by suspected armed robbers yesterday evening, killing two officers. “They also burned two vehicles, a Sienna and a police patrol van,” one eyewitness stated.
The two victims of the attack were identified as the Divisional Crime cop (DCO) and another cop known locally as “Big.”
“Police from Enugu arrived and took the burning vehicles away. “I learned that the assailants carted away the slain officers’ weapons,” the eyewitness said.
This latest incident adds to the long record of deadly attacks on law enforcement in Enugu North Senatorial District in recent months.
