A former member of the House of Representatives from Katsina State’s Jibia/Kaita Federal Constituency, Usman Bugaje, said Monday that former President Olusegun Obasanjo put in a lot of effort to win a third term.
Bugaje claimed that because of the third term issue, they were threatened by some of Obasanjo’s operatives and endured various forms of harm.
Over the weekend, Obasanjo claimed that he would have been elected to a third term as president if he had desired one. He was responding to that assertion.
In an interview with Arise Television’s Morning Show, Bugaje said that there is proof that Obasanjo gave lawmakers money back then in order to further his third-term goals.
“I can attest to the fact that Obasanjo searched for a third term during that period and did everything within his power to do so,” Bugaje stated.

“Recall that Senator Victor Lar, who was the head of the Northern Caucus of the House of Representatives at the time, had to hide in several locations before we were able to have one crucial meeting that truly helped us to inspire the nation to oppose Obasanjo’s third term, so I mean
These individuals who actually disbursed the funds and threatened us are still alive, despite the abundance of evidence. The people that got the money are still living. Those who turned them down are still alive. That’s enough proof.
