Falz to Tinubu: ‘You Are Failing in Protecting Lives and Property’

Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, is an activist and singer who has accused President Bola Tinubu of not fulfilling his fundamental duty of protecting people and property in the nation.
The President was chastised by him for not addressing the nation’s growing insecurity.
He made this statement in response to the latest massacre in Benue State on his X account.

According to the vocalist of “This is Nigeria,” Tinubu has repeatedly demonstrated his inability to carry out his main duty of protecting people and property.

He emphasized that the president’s standard statement ignores the problem of insecurity.

Falz said, “You have repeatedly demonstrated that you are unable to fulfill the fundamental responsibility of protecting your citizens’ lives and property. This commonplace assertion is insufficient.

Falz bemoaned in a different post that not enough attention is being paid to the killings in Benue.

He claimed that more than 200 people had been senselessly killed and burned alive in Benue, and that this was not receiving nearly enough attention. Why do we treat ourselves with such evil?

Falz, meantime, has denied rumors that he was romantically involved with notorious transgender person Idris Okunneye, also known as Bobrisky.

It brought to light the 2024 leak of Falz’s purported phone conversation with Bobrisky while the latter was incarcerated by social media critic VeryDarkMan, also known as VDM.

Falz filed a lawsuit against VDM for defamation after the development led to widespread homosexual rumors about him.

In an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, amid the ongoing legal disputes with VDM, Falz denied ever dating Bobrisky, saying he merely attempted to assist.

The social media critic has not yet entered the defense, Falz stated in an update on the court case involving VDM.

“Update on the court case, very much still in court,” he remarked. My father and I are claiming defamation in a serious lawsuit. Ever since we filed the case, they have never entered the defense. Rather, they filed a preliminary objection, claiming that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the issue or something similar.

I was in court as of the previous date. The court dismissed that initial objection. They must now enter a defense, failing which the court will simply render a decision. That’s the update, then. I will leave it at that because I am unable to discuss much about the ongoing dispute.

Before that phone conversation, Bobrisky and I had never been in a relationship. He sent me a message on Instagram, saying, “I want to talk to you about how you can help, and I’m in this case.” Additionally, many of people messaged me about similar topics. There is nothing unusual about this instance; it is not a special one.

“I’ll give them an audience in many of those situations, asking them questions like, “What’s the P? How can I help?” With empathy. I was unaware. In any case, as the saying goes, “once bitten, twice shy.” I might not aid anyone again in my life, but I might be much more aware of my actions at the end of the day.
