Father of seven arrested over sexual exploitation of children in Niger

Niger State Police Command has arrested a 53 year old suspect, Abdullahi Imman aka Abbah for alleged gross indecency and sexual exploitations of children at Tayi around of Minna, the state capital.

The suspect, who is a father of seven children, was said to have used his provision store as his hideout to commit the crime.

It was gathered that he usually used sweets and biscuits among others to lure the children including boys and girls between six and eleven years.

Confirming the development in Minna, the state Public Relations Officer, PRO, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said on 27 April, 2024, a complaint was received from Tayi village area of Minna at GRA Division concerning the issue.

The Police PRO explained that upon receipt of the complaint, the Police operatives attached to the Division arrested the man and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

According to the police spokesman, “He confessed further that he engaged in this act with the children whose age ranges between six to eleven years that comprised of a boy and eight girls through the use of his finger into their private parts.

“He said he had been into this act since March, 2024.

“He confirmed that he is married and he has seven children, but he just found himself in this unfortunate act.”

The suspect has been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and diligent prosecution, while the children were taken to hospital for a medical examination.
