According to reports, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, is anticipated to make the announcement, which would formally declare the holiday on behalf of the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu will give a nationwide broadcast on October 1 at 7:00 a.m. as part of the festivities. In addition to reflecting on the nation’s democratic experience since independence in 1960, the speech is anticipated to highlight the reform objectives of his government.
Top government officials, diplomatic corps members, and invited visitors will be present at the Presidential Villa in Abuja later this morning at 10:00 a.m. for the customary Independence anniversary parade.
The full schedule of events with the theme “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation” had previously been announced by the Presidency.
