The lawmaker representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun Constituency of Lagos in the House of Representatives, Kalejaiye Paul, has urged Nigerians to be patient, resilient, and hopeful with an understanding of a better Nigeria.
The lawmaker said the government was listening to the yearnings of the people and making policies that would favour them.
According to a statement obtained Thursday, Kalejaiye, who spoke during the Ramadan Lecture/Prayer organised for the people of Ajeromi/Ifelodun with the theme “Message of Hope,” urged Nigerians, both the leadership and followership, to do the right thing consistently, love one another, be united in love, and be tolerant both during Ramadan/Lent fasting and beyond.
He said, “Government is responsively listening to the yearnings of the people, making policy directions that will favor the masses. Nigerians should be aware that 2024 is a year of joy as importation of petroleum products will stop this year.”
Delivering the Ramadan Lecture, the Chief Imam, Ajegunle Central Mosque, Alhaji Shuaib Bamidele, revealed that all hands must be on deck with determination to do the right thing for true positive change to happen in the country.
On his part, the special guest, chairman of Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Kamal Bayewu, urged Nigerians to remain committed and be hopeful in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
There have been protests in some states against the current hardship, rising inflation and high cost of living following the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
As the economic hardship continues to linger in the country, many Nigerians have been thronging palliative distribution centres put in place by government officials and other stakeholders to cushion the effect of the hardships.
