In Fegge Onitsha, Anambra State, a fire disaster destroyed property worth millions of naira, causing chaos.
The event happened on Thursday, May 8, according to one of the victims, who only gave journalists his name, Jude.
According to the person who claimed to run a small industrial sewing factory on the building’s top floor, an electrical surge caused the fire.
Significant losses resulted from the blaze, which started at 2:30 am on Wednesday night due to an unstable energy supply, he told the Daily Post.
Jude added that the fire destroyed everything, including six more sewing machines, seven industrial sewing machines costing about ₦1.5 million apiece, and an unknown quantity of fabric materials worth millions of naira.
Aaron Ezeobi, the landlord, was irate and said he had advised his tenant on several occasions not to use the residential property for business or a workshop.
“Before the fire, I had previously served him with a quit notice that was set to expire next month. “I’m hurting because building materials are so expensive,” he remarked.
Emeka Idu, the representative for the Onitsha North & South Constituency in the House of Representatives, sent his condolences to the victims of the recent fire tragedy.

Both the landlord and the renter received his condolences, and he advised them to maintain their fortitude in the face of their loss in order to avoid any possible health problems.
Idu supported Jude financially and prayed for a speedy recovery for them both.
Additionally, he promised to look into the price of the industrial sewing machines in order to provide more support.
In order for Idu to make a financial contribution, he also asked the landlord to let him know when the damaged building’s roof is being replaced.
“Please control your emotions and try not to dwell on your loss too much in order to prevent hypertension, which can result in stroke.”
“You can keep the ₦200,000 until you’re ready to replace the sewing machines, and then we’ll see how we can help you further,” he promised.
