First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has commemorated the International Day of Families, recognising the vital role families play in building strong communities and nations.

In a message to commemorate this year’s day, Mrs. Tinubu emphasised the importance of family love and support, describing family as a source of comfort and stability, encouraging Nigerians to cherish moments spent with their loved ones, no matter how big or small.

The First Lady also urged people to express gratitude to their family members, including grandparents, parents, spouses, children, siblings, and extended family and friends. She suggested simple gestures like a phone call, handwritten note, or shared meal can make a significant impact.

“Today, I celebrate all families that are the foundation of our communities and our nation.

“Families share a common thread: the love and support we provide for one another. Our families have been a source of comfort and stability. We have learnt the importance of cherishing the moments we have together, big and small.

“Let us take a moment to appreciate our families and express our gratitude to our grandparents, parents, spouses, children and siblings. Our extended family and friends should not be out, simple phone call, a handwritten note, or a shared meal can make a world of difference.

“Happy International Day of Families,” she said.
