Five Dead, Two Injured in Trailer Accident in Niger

It was known that the fatal accident happened on Tuesday morning in the Gurara Local Government Area, close to the Izom Bridge.

The trailer, which was loaded with cargo and had left Lagos on its way to one of the northern states, crashed while trying to avoid potholes on a poor section of road near the bridge, according to witnesses who talked to Daily Trust.
Adamu Umar, a Lambata local, told reporters that the collision was caused in part by the road’s poor condition.

Concerns regarding the safety of the Lambata–Suleja corridor for drivers and heavy-duty trucks were raised by the collision, which occurred less than a week after a similar incident on the same road killed 22 lives and injured 20 more.

In a statement to reporters, Aishatu Sa’adu, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Niger State Sector Commander, verified the collision.

According to her, rescue operations were completed quickly, and the wounded were sent to a local hospital for care.

Citing the road’s declining condition as a recurrent concern, authorities have encouraged drivers to drive extremely carefully along the route.
