Florida Property Allegations: Wike Insists He Has Nothing to Hide

According to Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), he has nothing to conceal and has denied claims that he has properties in the US.

Human rights advocate and past presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore petitioned the Florida Attorney General last week, demanding that the minister’s visa be banned, the alleged assets be forfeited, and those implicated be prosecuted.

According to Sowore, the minister bought the property, which is situated at 113 Spring Creek Lane in Winter Springs, Florida, in March 2025 and registered it in the names of Wike’s children, Joaquin, Jazmyne, and Jordan, together with his wife, Justice Eberechi Wike, a sitting judge.

Additionally, certain organizations have released comments urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and President Bola Tinubu to look into the allegations to see whether they are real.

His principal has already publicly addressed such charges and is unconcerned, according to Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister.

The FCT minister is not concerned about any of these issues, to start. He has addressed many of these accusations in public. He doesn’t mind because he thinks it’s usual. “People throw sticks and stones at the ripe, sweet oranges on the tree,” goes a saying in Yorubaland. Permit them to carry on with their deception and lies.

“I want to be clear: The minister has nothing to conceal. You can see what Sowore is causing a stir about. According to him, Wike has properties in the US. On national television, the minister did not say nay when questioned. According to him, his in-laws, who are US citizens, own the properties. The estates were bequeathed to his wife, who is also an American citizen, by his in-laws. The property was now bequeathed to the wife’s children. The kids are Americans, too.

If my parents left me their property, what’s wrong with that? Were those parents public officials? Do they have Nigerian ancestry?

Videos of one Port Harcourt hotel were also produced by Sowore. Is it investigative journalism to highlight topics that are accessible to the public? The hotel is visible. In Port Harcourt, the minister is constantly at the hotel. There, he stays.

Additionally, he disregarded the property records that Sowore was circulating, arguing that they were just regular public documents that anyone could view online.

Property documents are available online in the United States. So, whomever is providing those documents and saying that they are performing exclusive reports or investigative journalism is just lying to himself. In the US, it is comparable to searching for a court ruling. The judgment can be obtained with just the case number.

Political interests allegedly worried by Wike’s influence within the Tinubu administration are funding Sowore, according to Olayinka, who accused him of operating a protest-driven “business enterprise.”

The game Sowore is playing is known to all of us. His income increases with the amount of noise he produces. Organizing protests is his own commercial venture. In order to protest, he will assemble defenseless young people and set up shop where the cops may arrest him. He will collapse and say he has been beaten and put in a coma once someone touches his clothing. In order to receive international donations, he will forward the photos to donor organizations overseas.

He (Sowore) is obviously being sponsored. In Nigerian politics today, the FCT minister plays a significant role. He also plays a significant role in politics. Therefore, we don’t find the actions of people like Sowore and his sponsors shocking.

Noting that Nigerians are already feeling the effects of his leadership, he emphasized that Wike is still focused and dedicated to carrying out his mission in the FCT.

“There is absolutely no distraction for the minister. Nigerians are appreciative of the wonderful work he is doing in the Federal Capital Territory, and he is focused on the mission that Mr. President has given him.
