“Food Is Becoming Too Cheap” – Oshiomhole Reacts to Nigerians’ Concerns

Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s comments on Channels Television while defending the government’s economic policies have caused a stir.

Oshiomhole reportedly responded to inquiries regarding whether the reforms had a detrimental impact on common Nigerians during the interview.

He refuted claims that the reforms had created hardship, insisting that they were intended to bring about change.

He claimed that many of the issues brought up were mostly conjectural rather than fact-based.

Contrary to popular belief, he said, some Nigerians believe that food prices are getting cheaper.

Oshiomhole questioned whether there was actual proof of numerous complaints, challenging the notion that common people were suffering.

“The truth is that we promised radical reforms,” Oshiomhole stated. Who are the common people? You take these statements directly from people’s mouths. Have you visited those who are grumbling? Some Nigerians now claim that food is become too cheap.

In other matters, Oshiomhole has said that the tax policies of President Bola Tinubu align with the principles of a progressive administration.

He said that the tax reforms shift the burden from the poor to the wealthiest during an appearance on Channels Television.

He claimed to be one of the lawmakers that backed the tax package that was ultimately passed into law.

The facts on the ground demonstrate that President Tinubu’s tax policy aligns with the principles of a progressive government, according to Oshiomhole.

“And this is a progressive tax policy that offers tax exemptions to those with lower incomes while placing a greater burden on those with higher incomes.”
