Fubara Fires Back at Critics: ‘The Respect I’ve Earned Is What Truly Matters’

Sim Fubara, the suspended governor of Rivers State, has challenged the admission condition of wishing to be a politician and dismissed the claims that he is not a politician.
Fubara reportedly mentioned this while implying that he would be reestablishing relations with Nyesom Wike, his predecessor and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
You may remember that after the governor took office in 2023, the relationship between Wike and Fubara soured.

Prior to President Bola Tinubu declaring a six-month state of emergency because of a full security scenario, the two had a disagreement that affected the state’s governing bodies, notably the House of Assembly.

During his suspension, Fubara allegedly visited with Wike and Tinubu to try to patch things up.

In an internet video that went viral, Fubara claimed to a group of his fans that there is no reason why he and his “Oga,” who is a reference to Wike, cannot live in harmony.

“The respect he has earned is more important than the one that is being forced,” Fubara said, in spite of the discussions about him not being a politician.

He declared, “There is no reason why my Oga and I can’t have peace; we want peace so that Rivers can move on.”

“I want to beg everyone,” they said, adding, “I’m not a politician, but I don’t know what the prerequisites are to want to be one. Knowing that respect earned, not forced, is what matters most in this life.”

In order to gain your respect, I want to serve you rather than dominate you. Please let me know if I’ve made any mistakes.

“I want to reiterate that I’m with you 100%, and I need everyone’s support as well as our support of one another.”
