On Thursday, the current Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, gave a response to rumours that he has been named President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chief of staff. The rumours have been circulating for the past few days.

Gbajabiamila’s name has been brought up in conversation regarding the race for speaker of the house ever since Tinubu was declared the winner of the election on February 25.

According to reports that surfaced earlier on Thursday, the president is said to have chosen Gbajabiamila after several hours of discussions and consultations with a variety of individuals.

Gbajabiamila advised the public on Thursday to refrain from interfering with the functioning of the system while he was speaking to the media shortly after a meeting with Senate President Ahmad Lawan and President Tinubu.

“Have patience, have patience, the system works in its own time and in its own way. When asked why his widespread appointment had not been made official in the midst of messages of congratulations, he responded by saying, “Let’s allow the system to work.”

When asked if it would be announced before the day came to an end, he responded with “We’ll see, we’ll see, we’ll see. Please accept my sincere gratitude.

In response to this, Lawan stated that he was awaiting an official announcement and went on to say that “if that happens, Mr. president would have made a very wise decision.”
