A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the remand of Timilehin Ajayi, a well-known gospel musician who was caught with the severed head of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps member.

The Nasarawa State Police Command’s X website posted a brief statement regarding the remand on Friday.

According to the statement, the suspect was arraigned pending his official arraignment.

“Timilehin Ajayi was charged in court today and remanded in prison custody pending his formal arraignment,” added the statement.

Churchgoers arrested Ajayi on Tuesday after he allegedly killed and mutilated Adaidu for suspected ritualistic reasons, according to TheNigerian Online.

A member had reported that Ajayi was acting abnormally near a river, according to Caleb Umaru, the church’s general secretary and Bible study instructor.

He claimed that the aforementioned member alerted others when Ajayi dropped a suitcase into the river. Later, it was found that his girlfriend’s severed head was inside the bag.

The suspect claimed he had no regret for his actions, even though he had admitted to committing the crime.

Adaidu, his late girlfriend, was unfaithful to him, therefore he claimed to have killed her.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s family had claimed that their sister had been kidnapped and had never been in contact with the suspect, even though there had been allegations that she had paid him a visit.
