Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has signed into law the 2026 Appropriation and Finance Bills following legislative scrutiny.
Buni, who signed the bills on Tuesday, commended and appreciated members of the Yobe State House of Assembly for their steadfastness and reaffirmed their loyalty to the people of the state through the timely passage of the bills after thorough and constructive scrutiny.
According to him, this clearly demonstrates that both the Executive and Legislative arms of government in the state are working in harmony, with a clear vision, understanding, and commitment to serve the people better.
“You will recall that I presented the sum of five hundred and fifteen billion, five hundred and eighty-three million naira only (N515,583,000,000) for the 2026 appropriation and finance bills.
“This has been slightly adjusted to five hundred and fifteen billion, five hundred and thirty-two million naira (N515,532,000,000), with a slight decrease in allocation for capital expenditure and an increase in the allocation for recurrent services.
“The net allocation to finance the capital programmes is now two hundred and ninety-one billion, nine hundred and three million, six hundred and fifty thousand naira (N291,903,650,000) or 62 per cent while the sum of two hundred and twenty-three billion, six hundred and twenty-eight million, three hundred and fifty thousand naira (N223,628,350,000) or 38 per cent is earmarked to cover recurrent services.
“Some internal adjustments were made in respect of the allocations of some ministries, departments and agencies,” he said.
The governor appealed to all citizens of the state to continue to live in peace and harmonious coexistence and to support government policies and programmes so that the state can collectively succeed.
