Gov. Uzodimma Presents 2026 Fiscal Plan Worth N1.4 Trillion to Imo Assembly

Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, submitted a N1.4 trillion proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly on Monday.

With a total of N1,430,573,590,405.04, the budget dubbed the “Budget of economic breakthrough” represents a 78% increase over the N807 billion budget for 2025.

Governor Uzodimma stated, “The proposal consists of 83.4 percent capital expenditure and 16.6 percent recurrent expenditure,” as he presented the budget to the plenary.

He went on to say that the goal was to eliminate “a generator-based power economy and provide world-class infrastructure to facilitate economic breakthrough,” and that the amount was based on increased federal funding and internally produced revenue.

“Recurrent Expenditure for the 2026 fiscal year is N238,499,999,653, covering personnel costs, overheads, and subventions, while the total projected Capital Expenditure is N1,201,073,590,752.04,” stated the governor in the plan.

He characterized this as an unambiguous declaration of his administration’s course and resolve to supply the infrastructure required for economic growth.

According to the governor, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security would receive N20.506 billion, while the Ministry of Health will receive N698.163 billion.

He claims that the state’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development received N87.727 billion, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition received N6.471 billion, the Ministry of Power and Electrification received N190.451 billion, the Ministry of Education received N60.623 billion, and the Ministry of Rural Development received N15.106 billion.

Nonetheless, he praised the state legislature for their complete collaboration and support of the executive branch of government, as well as for being true partners in growth.

Earlier, Mr. Chike Olemgbe, the Speaker of the House, expressed optimism that the budget will bring about prolonged food security, better healthcare, more infrastructure projects, greater electricity generation in the state, and increased human capital development.

Olemgbe praised the governor for his efforts aimed at bolstering state security and said that he had continued to uphold the principles of democracy as outlined in the constitution.

Additionally, he assured the governor that the House would back his policies aimed at the advancement of the state and praised him for his accomplishments.
