To join the All Progressives Congress (APC), South East lawmakers have been invited to do so by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.
According to reports, Governor Uzodimma stated that the South East could only be fully benefited by the federal government if it joined the ruling party.
This was his statement during Saturday’s APC South East Leaders’ Consultative Meeting in Enugu. He urged the party leaders to stand together and cooperate in order to win over all regions.
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, Chief Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, were among those present at the meeting.

“You must have noticed the current trend of APC members becoming governors in different geopolitical zones. Joining the APC, which controls the central government of Nigeria and several subnational administrations, will put the Southeast in close proximity to the corridors of power, he stated.
“The party and its South East stakeholders are dedicated to advancing the interest of the region,” stated the chairman of the APC Governors Forum.
In order to strengthen party structures, increase unity, and match our grassroots mobilization with our overarching political goals, it was a productive interaction.
We make sure that the South East maintains a strong connection to the national government by purposefully promoting the progressive values of our party. This relationship is strategically important for our region’s socioeconomic growth and goes beyond politics.
Already, the results of our modest efforts are evident, as our region now has important positions in the national leadership. We have high hopes for even more chances in the future. We still have the South East’s progress as our ultimate objective,” he continued.
