Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State will pay healthcare workers’ stipend regularly.

According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the guarantee was made to retain experienced medical professionals.

The governor pledged at a luncheon honoring 13 indigenous medical doctors who graduated from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.

Idris promised the healthcare workforce that he would prioritize the sector since it saves lives.

“I will do my best to increase doctors’ and other medical staff allowances to close the state-federal allowance gap so they can stay home and serve their people.”

Idris committed to helping medical students by increasing scholarship grants from N30,000 to N50,000.

To improve healthcare access and reduce the suffering of sick residents, the governor promised to build standard hospitals in all four emirates.

Health Commissioner Alhassan Yauri called the governor’s welcome for graduating doctors a historic event in Kebbi State.
