In Kwalfada village, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, a man was shot and killed by gunmen who were reported to be prominent bandits because he refused to marry his daughter to one of their colleagues.
Usman Magaji, a local, claims that one of the bandits asked one of the girls in the hamlet to marry him, but the girl’s father flatly turned down the offer.
Magaji clarified that the girl’s father rejected the bandit’s request in favour of marrying her to another villager.
“The bandits raided the village and slaughtered the girl’s father right after the marriage contract was signed.
Additionally, the terrorists insisted that the recentlywed husband immediately file for divorce from his wife so that their colleague may wed her.
“If the husband disobeyed the order, they threatened to murder him.
He claimed, “The wife was immediately divorced by the husband and remarried to the bandit who brought her to the forest.”
Magaji said that because there was no security provided for the community’s people, the bandits had been terrorising the area for a considerable amount of time.
He claims that the bandits have been levying taxes on the locals and mentions that a few weeks prior, the villagers paid N4 million.
“In order to raise the necessary funds, we had to sell our food items and other valuables,” he stated.
As of the time the article was filed, Yazid Abdulahi, the spokesperson for the State police command, had not yet commented on the matter.
