Hon. Peter Aniekwe, member of the House of Representatives for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, distributed Federal Government agricultural grants to about 90 people on Thursday, April 4th. The majority of the recipients were peasant and commercial farmers, made up of both men and women. The event was organized by the lawmaker and was held at his campaign office along St Gabriel’s road in Otuocha Umueri, Anambra East. Hon. Chief Sylvester Nnalue represented him at the event.

Hon. Chris Obiora, Chairman of the Anambra West Farmers Association, expressed his happiness for being a beneficiary of the agricultural grants. He said that this kind of support has been rare in the Omabala region since the inception of democracy, and he appreciates it. He also hopes that this is not the last time this kind of support is given.

Chief Samuel Ozoekwe, a PDP stakeholder in Anambra West, also expressed his appreciation for Hon. Aniekwe’s effort. He said that he is happy that this is happening in his lifetime and appreciates the Honorable for doing this. He stated that everyone knows how the country is present; thus, this kind of support is needed.

Mrs. Baby Nnatuanya-Chinwuba, the women leader of the Macpee Campaign Organization, Anambra East, thanked Hon. Aniekwe for his genuine and worthy representation. She also prayed that the Almighty God would grant him more grace to do more because the Constituency is now enjoying the dividend of democracy.

Other speakers at the event included Chief Clement Okonkwo (Agu Udo Anam), the Deputy State Chairman (North) of the Labor Party, Dr. Chinedu Jideani, and a few others.

Hon. Chief Sylvester Nnalue (Ugonabo Anam), the Anambra West Chairman of the Macpee Campaign Council and Deputy Chairman, of Macpee Campaign Organization, appreciated the lawmaker for not hiding the grants from the constituents as it is a common norm in their Constituency.

The most remarkable aspect of the meeting was that it had no political affiliation. People from different political parties, including APGA, LP, PDP, and other party faithful within Anambra East and West Constituency, were physically present. Notably, Chief Sunday Ekwenze and Augustine Chukwurah from APGA, Chief Samuel Ozoekwe, and others from PDP were in attendance.
