A community source has revealed how five gunmen, on Tuesday, abducted a medical doctor, Dr. Donatus Nwasor, outside his health clinic at Utagba-Uno in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

TheNigerian Metro gathered that Nwasor was abducted around 8:15 pm on Tuesday.

According to the community source, who pleaded anonymity because he lacked permission to speak on the matter, they received strange news from one of the auxiliary nurses working in Nwasor’ health clinic in Utagba-uno that her boss was kidnapped.

“As her boss entered his car after closing around 8 pm, and switched on the ignition, suddenly a call came on his telephone.

“While the car was steaming, Dr. Donatus Nwasor quickly got out of the car to enable him to freely answer and exhaust his call. Suddenly, about five men came out of a nearby bush and hit him down, dragged him into his steaming car, and drove away.

“One of the kidnappers’ one-sided rubber sandals fell off at the clinic premises, and they drove towards the Ugiliamai / Iselegu area,” he narrated.

The source said while digging further and making calls across board, they got information from someone coming from Iselegu junction that he saw Nwasor’s car parked by the expressway heading to Asaba.

“An anti-cult group in Utagba-uno led by Mr. Ugobueze was informed and by a delegation of the Utagba-uno Inotu-In-Council mandated to find out if actually, the car belonged to the said doctor.

“The group got there around 9:10 pm and found a car with all the doors wide open without anyone inside. It was confirmed that it was Dr. Nwasor’s car,” the source added.

The community source further said no real trace of Nwasor was found except a walkway sign in the bush heading towards Obi-Ukpo in Onicha-Ukwuani, saying that concerned individuals, parents of the doctor and the Kwale Division of the Nigeria Police had also been communicated on the bitter incident.

When contacted on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction.

He said, “Yes, it is confirmed.”
