Ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that he would not congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal on Wednesday dismissed the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate at the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, and upheld Buhari’s election.
Governor Nyesom Wike had applauded the president’s victory, however, in a tweet late Wednesday, Fayose said any congratulatory message issued in his name should be disregarded because his party had decided to appeal the judgement.
“Nigerians should disregard any congratulatory message issued in my name on the outcome of the Presidential Election Judgment. My party has indicated its intention to appeal the judgment, and as a party man and believer in the PDP/ATIKU 2019 project, I can’t author such statement,” he said.
But the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who also is a member of the PDP like Fayose, has congratulated Buhari.
