Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has revealed that he travelled with his wife and three kids to England to meet some Super Eagles players.
Pinnick said he is plotting to get Ademola Lookman to successfully switch from England to Nigeria.
The 24-year-old Leicester City forward was born in England to Nigerian parents and has played at age-group levels for England.
Lookman featured for England’s U-19s and U-20s, winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017 with the Young Three Lions.
He is eligible to switch nationality to Nigeria and Pinnick is confident this will happen soon.
“Ademola Lookman is excited about fighting for a shirt in the Super Eagles,” Pinnick confirmed. “He loves Nigeria. By His Grace we shall conclude the switch very soon.”
The NFF President and FIFA Council member also revealed that he paid unofficial visits to Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Watford’s Oghenekaro Etebo in England to boost their morale.
Both Premier League players are nursing long-term injuries, and Pinnick said they are in good spirits.
“I spent quality time with Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho in Leicester over the weekend,” Pinnick added.
“I went with my wife and three of my kids who are on half-term break. Our visit was a mere family visit and not official. The good news is that his second scan came out very good so he starts training with his club and possibly play the next game.
“I also paid a visit to Oghenekaro Etebo and he is also recuperating very well but definitely cannot make the next two World Cup qualifiers and the Nations Cup might also be doubtful.”
The Super Eagles face Liberia and Cape Verde in their next two World Cup qualifiers.
