The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to uplifting the standard of sport in the state.
Idris made this promise on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the Kebbi State Youth Parliament Cup Tournament, which was held at the FIFA mini stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
He also assured of his administration’s readiness to promote sporting activities across the state with a view to encouraging youths participation to showcase their talents.
The governor pledged to give the stadium the necessary support to give sportsmen and women the courage to be partakers in competitions within and outside the state maintained. He added, “I am giving directives today that potable water be provided to this stadium as well as purchase of jerseys and sport shoes to each club across the 21 Local Government Areas.”
Continuing, Idris stressed, “I am delighted with what I saw, and In’sĥa Allahu, my administration is operating an open and transparent policy, and youths are also involved,”
The tournament, which was organised in collaboration with Kaura for the governor’s group, aims at fostering unity and good relationships amongst the youth in the state.
The match was between Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency and Augie/Arugungu Federal Constituency, which ended in a penalty shoot-out.
At the end of the game, Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency won the trophy, which includes a cash award.
