The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service said its officials have arrested 90 illegal immigrants for suspected cybercrimes.

The service said the suspects perpetrated the crime at different levels to swindle unsuspecting Nigerians, saying the bulk of them are from Cameroon.

The service said the suspected cyber criminals were arrested in collaboration with other sister security agencies at their hideout in the state,

The Rivers State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. YI Abdulmajeed, who disclosed this in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, said their arrest followed credible intelligence.

Abdulmajeed stated that a total of 94 persons were arrested, saying, “Their profiling revealed that 85 of them are Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians.

“Of the 94 people, 74 are males and 20 females.”

According to the service, all 90 foreigners gained access into the country through unauthorised entry points, pointing out that none of them presented residence cards or any form of travelling documents after interrogation.

He said two other Nigerians from Rivers State, who provided accommodation for them, were also been named.

Abdulmajeed also revealed that the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has ordered the law to take its course and set modalities in motion to repatriate the foreigners back to their various countries of origin.
