Chairman of Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, Charles Ejiogu has said that the Commission has trained 15,000 ad-hoc staff in preparation for the September 21 council polls.

The Chairman pledged to conduct a free and fair election, providing a level playing ground for all political parties.

He said that the election would take place in all 305 wards and 4,758 polling units across the state.

The ISIEC boss made its position known at the office of the Commission while fielding questions from journalists.

Ejiogu assured the Imo electorate, stakeholders and all candidates from various political parties that the commission was poised to deliver a credible election that was fair to all contestants.

Regarding the voter’s register, Ejiogu revealed that the commission will use the register from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which will be displayed at each polling unit on election day.

The State electoral umpire hinted that for security reasons, they will not paste the register until the election day.

He further revealed that virtually all the leading political parties in the state nominated candidates for all the elective positions.
