The by-election to the Zamfara State House of Assembly for the Kaura-Namoda South Constituency has been deemed inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, INEC announced the results at the Kasuwar Daji Collation Centre. It revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 5,339 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 6,999 votes.
This resulted in a 1,660 vote advantage for the APC.
The APC led in four of the six wards, according to a breakdown of the results, while the PDP prevailed in two:
Ward of Kagara: PDP 682, APC 783
Ward of Saka Jiki: APC 1,021, PDP 359
APC 1,163, PDP 1,466 in Banga Ward
Ward of Kyanbarawa: PDP 660, APC 1,162
Kurya Ward: PDP 1,580, APC 983
Dan Isah Ward: PDP 592, APC 1,887
INEC ruled the election inconclusive despite the APC’s lead, pointing to anomalies and the requirement for a rerun in two voting places in Saka Jiki Ward and three in Kyanbarawa Ward.
In order to decide the final winner, the electoral board promised to provide a new date for the additional election.
