Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, has sought the support and cooperation of the paramilitary agencies overseen by his ministry.
The Nigeria Correctional Service, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are all paramilitary agencies under the ministry.
Tunji-Ojo, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu and sworn in on Monday, held the first meeting shortly after his inauguration.
This was contained in a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Mr. Babatunde Alao, on Tuesday and made available to our correspondent in Akure on Tuesday.

The minister urged paramilitary service chiefs to collaborate and be active in their respective agencies.
He also warned that if any of them fail to properly discharge their duties in the agencies, he will not hesitate to hold them accountable, just as the president will hold him accountable if anything goes wrong in the ministry.
“Just as Mr. President will hold me accountable for whatever happens in the Ministry of Interior,” he said, “I will never hold your subordinates responsible for anything; I will hold you accountable for anything that goes wrong.”
Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed his commitment to carrying out his constitutional mandate in the ministry, saying he would do everything in his power to ensure that the ministry met its expectations and goals.
“I’m here to work, but in order to work, we need a good environment.” This ministry’s work has an impact on everyone, rich or poor.
“I don’t lead from behind; I lead from in front.” We will try, and we will do our best, to provide leadership based on your support. “I am here to effect change and deliver results, and I need your assistance to do so,” he declared.
Dr. Oluwatoyi Akinlade, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, assured the minister that the ministry’s staff would always support and cooperate with her.

The meeting will be attended by the Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Mr Haliru Nababa, the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Mr Abdulganiyu Jaji, and the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Audi, according to the statement.
