IPOB Distances Itself from Simon Ekpa, Tells DSS to Stop Linkage

The Department of State Services (DSS) was cautioned by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday to cease associating it with Simon Ekpa, the self-declared prime minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE).

The group maintained that Ekpa is not a member of IPOB because it has nothing to do with him and his rebellious organization, IPOB-Auto-Pilot, in a statement released by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.

According to Powerful, attempts by the Nigerian government and DSS to associate Ekpa with its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, are malevolent and dishonest.

Powerful underlined that Ekpa, who is being prosecuted for terrorism in Finland, does not represent IPOB or Kanu and should not be considered a member of either organization.

In reaction to the most recent round of pathetic and desperate media propaganda being promoted by the Nigerian Department of State Services (DSS) and its supporters in the compromised press, “IPOB, under the supreme leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, hereby issues this urgent statement,” the statement said.

This time, their plan makes use of the discredited and rehashed story about a Finnish content producer named Simon Ekpa, who has repeatedly declared in public that he is not an IPOB member.

In an attempt to mislead the public and divert attention from the illegality and futility of their case against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the DSS is now making an effort to falsely link him to IPOB and our leader.

Let us state unequivocally that Simon Ekpa is not an IPOB member. He does not act on behalf of our movement, speak for IPOB, or represent IPOB.

“Any attempt to associate him with the IPOB family or Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is vicious, dishonest, and wrong. This most recent publicity stunt is just the latest in a well-funded psychological ploy to preserve the DSS’s crumbling narrative.

“They have now turned to sensationalism and low-level media manipulation after failing to link IPOB to their unlawful and savage military operations in the South-East and their kangaroo case against our leader failing in court.

We are also aware of the shameful poster campaign that is being used in Abuja to damage our leader’s reputation. A regime that is evading the truth is characterized by these behaviors.

Additionally, they are a last-ditch effort to divert attention from the incriminating evidence—some of which have been caught on camera—of the systematic mistreatment, illegal detentions, and abuses of human rights perpetrated by DSS agents against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In the near future, these crimes will be made public.

Let everyone know that IPOB is a legitimate, disciplined, and internationally renowned movement for self-determination. Our goal is still to uphold international law and maintain peace. Propaganda and rehashed lies won’t alter this reality.

The unlawful detention and extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as well as the Nigerian state’s ongoing disregard for both domestic and international court rulings, are the true issues, and we implore the Nigerian public and the international community to see through this deliberate disinformation campaign.

“The DSS should put an end to these juvenile shenanigans and get ready to deal with the legal repercussions of their behavior. “Justice will win, and history will document their shame,” Powerful emphasized.
