It is much easier to meet bandits than Buhari – Gumi
Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has insinuated that it is much easier to have a meeting with bandits than President Muhammadu Buhari.
Gumi lamented that he had made several attempts to discuss the rising scourge of insecurity in the north with the president but to no avail.
The Islamic cleric made these known on Wednesday during the Northern Peoples Summit in Kaduna.
Recall that Gumi recently met with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and agreed that the Federal Government should set up special courts for criminals.
During a closed-door meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, they also submitted that “hardened criminals must be hard hit with a stick while imploring the government to punish anybody illegally carrying arms in the country”.
Both leaders, in a communiqué issued at the end of parley, traced the root causes of insecurity in Nigeria to “educational and economic disparities, as well as negative use of religion and ethnicity by unscrupulous politicians.”
