Olohundare Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police, reportedly made the remark on Monday while speaking to reporters at the Iyana-Oworo portion of the Third Mainland Bridge. He warned that the command would not put up with any attempt to disturb public order.
Jimoh claims that intelligence data showed that Sowore and his friends had planned simultaneous protests at key areas, such as Freedom Park, Lekki Tollgate, and the Third Mainland Bridge.
“Sowore should surrender at the closest police station or face arrest wherever he is found,” the Commissioner declared.
“The full force of the law will be applied to anyone attempting to obstruct our roads or cause disturbance.”
Sowore clarified in a post on X that the commissioner’s failure to carry out the shoot-on-sight order issued by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun was the reason he was listed as wanted.
Sowore said he was prepared to discuss the matter in a meeting with the CP.
“The Lagos Police Commissioner, Moshood Jimoh, has reportedly declared me ‘wanted’ for ‘disturbance of public peace,’ allegedly due to his officers’ inability to carry out a ‘shoot on sight’ order given by his illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, in Oworonsoki today,” he wrote.
“I have called Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG Commissioner Jimoh numerous times, but he has not returned my calls. Nevertheless, I want to meet with him shortly to discuss his announcement. #RevolutionNow
