Kano Gov’s Adviser Dies Day After Swearing-In

The Kano State Government was on Wednesday thrown into mourning following the news of sudden death of Engr. Ahmad Ishaq Bunkure, the newly appointed Special Adviser on Works to Governor Abba Yusuf, barely 24 hours after his swearing-in.

Spokesperson to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement on Wednesday confirmed the passing of Bunkure in Egypt.

LEADERSHIP reports that the late adviser was amongst the newly appointed aides and commissioners sworn in by Governor Yusuf on Monday, 6th January, 2025.

Governor Yusuf, in his condolence message, described the late adviser as a committed professional whose expertise was expected to contribute significantly to the administration’s development agenda.

“This is a heartbreaking moment for us as a government. Engr. Bunkure was a dedicated professional whose expertise and contributions were expected to drive our administration’s vision for development. His loss is deeply felt,” the governor said.

He further extended sympathies to the family of the deceased and prayed for Allah’s mercy on him and strengthen his loved ones to bear the loss.
