Kidnappers Lower Ransom to N40 Million for Eight Abducted Edo Residents

According to reports, the gunmen who kidnapped eight Imoga citizens in Edo North last Friday have lowered their ransom demand from N100 million to N40 million.

On Tuesday, Oba Patrick Abudu, the Okpahi of Imoga Kingdom, verified the news.

The monarch claims that the kidnappers had reduced their initial demand of N100 million to N70 million on Monday.

The goal of the ongoing negotiations is to lower the ransom to N20 million.

Oba Abudu clarified that after a definitive deal is established with the kidnappers, all community members and stakeholders are ready to contribute the money.

The traditional monarch added that he was unable to leave the realm to take care of other urgent issues because of the kidnapping.

“We have continued to negotiate with the kidnappers, and they have now agreed to reduce the ransom to N40 million,” he stated.

But we’re hoping they can reduce it even more to N20 million.

“Our workers are ready to raise the funds, and payment will be made as soon as the entire sum is available.

“Given that our citizens were abducted five days ago, we are extremely worried about their safety.”
